Igor Mazepa: Ukraine needs to increase foreign investors’ confidence

Before investing in the country, foreign investors consider the following factors:

– stable economic growth of the country. Ukraine is showing 3% economic growth annually which could be improved.

– implementation of the reforms in the country. High level of corruption and lack of trust in judiciary still affects the investment climate in Ukraine. Moreover, reforms are not in progress, meaning the farmland market which remains closed, and health reform is progressing ambiguously.

I would note positive changes in Ukraine:

1.The independence of the National Bank and its transitioning to a system of targeting inflation.

2.The introduction of the institution of independent supervisory boards at state-owned enterprises (Naftogaz Ukraine, Ukrzaliznutsya, Privatbank). It improves transparency of the state-owned enterprises.

3.Trust in Ukraine from international financial institutions and continued cooperation with the IMF.
